A self-employed builder now has the firm foundations for a successful future, after banking a £3m share of last Saturday's Lotto Double Rollover jackpot.
Anthony Nutbrown, 51, from Carlisle, was on top of the world after a ticket he bought at the last minute turned out to be his best ever buy.
Mr Nutbrown and his partner, 54-year-old Patricia Alderson - a nursing assistant - are planning to go on holiday to allow themselves time to decide how to spend their winnings, although a new house and the latest luxury Jaguar, the XKRS, are high on his list.
The lucky couple, who have four children and six grandchildren - with another grandchild on the way - will also ensure their good fortune is shared around.
Mr Nutbrown explained: "We had arranged a family barbecue on Saturday but we were running out of soft drinks so I went to the shop and decided on the spur of the moment to buy a couple of Lucky Dips while I was waiting in the queue. What a stroke of good luck that turned out to be!
"I was checking my usual numbers against the draw numbers on Teletext and then remembered the Lucky Dip tickets. It was such an unbelievable feeling to find that all six numbers on the ticket matched the jackpot. I had to check and double-check before it finally sunk in."
He concluded: "We're a very close family and winning the lottery means that we can support the children and grandchildren in ways we couldn't do before. It's a dream come true."
Mr Nutbrown has played Lotto every Saturday since The National Lottery was launched over 13 years ago.
The winning Lotto numbers on Saturday 14 June were 7, 16, 17, 23, 29 and 34.
The winning ticket was bought at Spar on Hutton Way in Carlisle, where he buys his tickets each week.
