Bookers Vineyard Dark Harvest 2005

8th February 2008

Bookers Vineyard Dark Harvest 2005 red wine recently came top in a blind tasting of European wines, carried out by some of London's top sommeliers.

Dark Harvest achieved an average score of 3.5 (out of a possible five) and was the joint highest-scoring wine of the selection.

It was tested against two French wines, including a Les Rouilleres St Nicolas De Bourgeuil 2005, and an Italian wine, all of which were comparable in price.

Previously, English wine has enjoyed chequered fortunes, but this winning result shows that changes really are afoot in terms of quality and demand.

Bookers Vineyard describe the wine as: "A real stunner of an English red. Good medium body, full of red berry fruit flavours and cedar wood giving a lovely complexity on the bouquet and palate. A smooth lingering finish. Deep ruby red colour".

Bookers Dark Harvest is available from selected Waitrose stores or online from www.bookersvineyard.co.uk. RRP £8.99 per bottle.
