Camel Valley Bacchus 2006

15th April 2008

The sun is starting to peek out from behind the snow clouds, the spring flowers are in full colour, the evenings are lighter again … at last we can look forward to the spring/summer season ahead.

With St George’s Day coming up (April 23) enjoy one of England’s great success stories - a delightfully crisp, aromatic wine from one of this country’s most appealing grape varieties, aptly named Bacchus.

Bacchus originates from Germany but has found a natural home in the UK. This variety can produce wines that resemble a new world Sauvignon Blanc, giving attractively scented wines bursting with mouth-watering acidy and zesty fruit

Camel Valley Vineyard in Cornwall produces one of England’s finest examples of this single varietal wine. Previous vintages have won International Wine Challenge awards. The Sunday Times quoted it as “England's answer to Sancerre”.

The father and son team of Bob and Sam Lindo combine highly skilled expertise with boundless enthusiasm and energy. Sam is the current ‘Winemaker of the Year’ from our own national wine competition.

Try it with some of our delicious seafood - and keep some for the summer evenings ahead.

Price £10.95 per bottle, available direct from Camel Valley (www.camelvalley.com) - 10 per cent discount for orders of12 bottles, £8.50 delivery; selected branches of Waitrose and independent wine merchants.
