The highly-anticipated release of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade will go on sale on January 16.
The Burning Crusade, which is the first major expansion of the popular game, will add new lands, quests, monsters, magic items, spells and abilities, two new player races and an increase in the level cap to 70.
Last October, World of Warcraft maker Blizzard announced that it had been forced to delay the release of the expansion pack.
The California-based developer had originally planned to launch The Burning Crusade by the end of 2006.
Blizzard president and co-founder Mike Morhaime said the delay would allow Blizzard to "further refine the new content that will ship with the game".
World of Warcraft, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), was launched in the US, Australia and New Zealand in 2004.
The adventure game has since been released in multiple countries throughout Europe and Asia.
Last year, Blizzard reported that the game had reached more than seven million players worldwide.
Blizzard, a unit of French media company Vivendi SA, has yet to announce pricing decisions for the expansion pack.
Gamers will be able to purchase The Burning Crusade from retail stores from midnight or download the expansion via www.worldofwarcraft.com.
