The Genesis Centre welcomed champion boxer Ricky Hatton on Tuesday 1 April, for a tour of Europe's first ever, purpose built breast cancer prevention facility.
Hatton, a longstanding patron of The Genesis Appeal - the only UK charity dedicated entirely to the prevention of breast cancer visited the centre for the first time since it opened.
The £14m, state-of-the-art centre, based at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester, was officially opened in July of last year.
The Genesis Appeal raised £2m to facilitate the build of the centre, with the remaining £12m funded by the NHS.
Currently, one in ten women is expected to develop breast cancer. The aim of the appeal is to create a future without breast cancer, by making 1 in 10, none in 10.
Hatton said: "I've been keen to visit the Genesis Prevention Centre since it opened, and am glad that I finally have.
"The work they do here is vital and it's great that Manchester is home to this amazing facility."
Genesis' next major fundraising event will be Manchester's second annual 10km Twilight Walk on May 4. To register for the walk, email your details to twilight@genesisuk.org or visit www.genesisuk.org.
