15th November 2007

Lee Evans will embark on his largest tour to date next year, with tickets for his record breaking show at the London O2 Arena selling out in less than an hour.

Evans, who has become one of Britain's best-loved stars of stage, screen and stand-up, has added several extra dates after demand for tickets shot through the roof. He will perform an extra night on Thursday 9 October 2008 as well as the original dates on Friday 10 and Saturday 11 October 2008.

Extra dates have also been added for 'Lee Evans - Big - UK Tour 2008' in Nottingham, Cardiff, Sheffield, Wembley, Brighton and Manchester.

Lee said: ‘It has been two years since my last stand up tour and I can’t wait to hit the road again.'

Evans broke the Guinness World Record for a solo act performing to the biggest comedy audience at the Manchester Evening News Arena in 2005 when he played to a crowd of 10,108. With 15,000 capacity per night, the dates at London 02 Arena will serve to cement Evans as the UK's favourite funny man.

Lee Evans: "I started doing physical comedy, because I was like a moving target. You know what British audiences are like - 'he's shit, kill him!' My upbringing taught me to keep moving."

There are 300,000 tickets available for the overall tour, meaning Evans will further etch his name into the record books with the biggest ever UK live comedy gig.

Lee has created his own brand of comedy, encompassing manic energy, hilarious delivery and a strong physical performance element. His live performances have become a must-see for comedy fans around the world with more than a quarter of a million people seeing his sold out 2005 XL Tour, which included four dates at The NIA.

Lee said: "It's amazing and I'm so pleased by how well it's all gone so far. The O2 is the biggest venue I'll have played so it's pretty daunting but I can't wait to get back out on tour again. Being on stage and performing live is where I get the biggest buzz so I'm really looking forward to it all."
