Fool's Good made $22m in its first weekend

Romantic comedy Fool's Good has debuted at the top of the US box office chart, according to figures from Media by Numbers.

Fool's Good, which stars Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey, took $22m in its opening three days.

Directed by Andy Tennant, the film sees Hudson and McConaughey play a divorced couple who join forces to search for a hidden treasure.

Welcome Home Roscoe entered the US film chart in second place, with ticket sales of $17.1m.

Last week’s top movie, Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds, dropped two places to third, taking $10.5m.

Horror film The Eye took fourth spot with $6.6m, followed by pregnancy comedy Juno in fifth with $5.7m.

Romantic comedy 27 Dresses, the story of a perpetual bridesmaid, slipped three places to sixth. It took $5.7m.

The Bucket List, starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, made number seven after taking $5.3m.

The fourth Rambo film in the popular series, meanwhile, fell from number six to number eight.

Meet the Spartans, a spoof movie parodying Greek warrior epic 300, took ninth spot with $4.1m.

There Will Be Blood completed the US box office top 10. The film also took £4.1m between Friday and Sunday.

New releases this weekend include romantic comedy Definitely, Maybe and Hayden Christensen thriller Jumper.
