Will Ferrell's latest comedy, Semi-Pro, has debuted at the top of the US box office chart, figures show.
The basketball movie made $15.3m in its opening three days on a very quiet weekend for US cinemas.
Semi-Pro, which also stars Woody Harrelson and Andrew Daly, had been expected to generate nearer $20m.
Movie buffs have blamed the performance on the film’s more restrictive R certificate.
Last week's top film, political thriller Vantage Point, slipped one spot to second, with ticket sales of $13m.
The Spiderwick Chronicles, based on the children's fantasy books, grossed $12.6m in its third weekend as it slipped from second to third.
Historical drama The Other Boleyn Girl entered the US chart at number four, taking $8.3m between Friday and Sunday.
Jumper, the sci-fi thriller starring Hayden Christensen, dropped three places to fifth with $7.6m.
Dancing sequel Step Up 2 the Streets took sixth spot with £5.7m, while Fool's Gold was seventh with $4.7m.
Romantic drama Penelope, featuring James McAvoy and Reese Witherspoon, debuted in eighth place, taking $4m.
No Country for Old Men benefited from its recent Oscars success as it climbed back into the top 10 at nine.
The Coen brothers' thriller scooped four Oscars, including the coveted best picture accolade.
Comedy Juno rounded out the top 10 with $3.4m.
The top 12 films took a total of $81m at the North American box office over the weekend, a 25 per cent drop from the same period a year ago.
