The movie, which also stars Ken Davitian, has generated a whopping £14.1m in two weeks, according to figures from Screen International.
The Prestige entered the UK and Ireland chart at number two in its first week of release.
The magical thriller, starring Scarlett Johansson and Hugh Jackman, topped the US box office last month.
Gory horror film Saw III dropped one spot to third, while dance-based romantic drama Step Up also slipped one place to fourth.
Martin Scorcese's mob drama The Departed, featuring Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio, ranked fifth.
Breaking and Entering, a romantic drama about a landscape architect who falls in love with a young thief, debuted at number seven.
This Friday sees the highly anticipated release of Casino Royale, the 21st James Bond film.
Casino Royale, based on the first of Ian Fleming's popular spy novels, is expected to replace Borat at the top of this weekend’s UK film chart.
The film, which has received positive early reviews, stars Daniel Craig as James Bond and Mads Mikkelsen as Bond's nemesis Le Chiffre.
It will have its world premiere in London's Leicester Square on Tuesday night.
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are expected to attend the event.
