Manchester City have approached Luiz Felipe Scolari about replacing Sven-Goran Eriksson as the club's manager.

City owner Thaksin Shinawatra has offered the Brazilian a bumper £3.25 million-a-year deal.

Eriksson, who has led City to a respectable top 10 finish, will be sacked at the end of the season.

Scolari, 59, who is believed to be interested in succeeding Eriksson, leads Portugal into the European Championship next month.

Thaksin, a Thai billionaire, is believed to want a swift answer from Scolari.
