Kate Moss named top fashion icon

9th March 2006

Supermodel Kate Moss has topped the Tatler magazine "British fashion icons of 2005" list, the publication has announced.

Moss, 32, endured a miserable 2005, losing a number of lucrative contracts amid claims of cocaine abuse.

But the Tatler magazine poll shows she has lost none of her appeal as a fashion icon.

Moss managed to stave off competition from King Kong actress Naomi Watts, who finished in second place.

Fashion journalist Daphne Guinness was third, while former catwalk queen Yasmin Le Bon was ranked fourth.

Artist Tracey Emin is fifth on the list, followed by actress Rosamund Pike at number six and rock star Peaches Geldof at number seven.

Contemporary artist Sam Taylor-Wood finished in eighth place, while stylist Charlotte Stockdale was ninth.

Last in the top 10 is The Duchess of Cornwall.

"The best-dressed British women of the past year have one thing in common: an understanding of fashion," said Tatler magazine editor Geordie Greig.

He added: "They know just what suits them and how to make it work."

The full list will be published in the April issue of the magazine.
