Google effect sees Blogger.com soar

7th October 2005

Web monitoring firm Hitwise today reports that a link to Blogger on the Google UK homepage has resulted in a dramatic impact on visits to www.blogger.com.

Blogger, the blog technology company bought by Google back in 2002, was receiving less than 10 per cent of traffic from Google before its move to the Google UK homepage.

As soon as the link was placed on the homepage on October 4, Blogger.com was receiving 50 per cent of its traffic from Google UK - illustrating just how powerful a link on the Google homepage can be as a traffic driver.

As reported in yesterday's Hitwise UK Search Update, Google continues to dominate the search engine market in the UK, powering 63 per cent of all internet searches in the UK.

Traffic to www.blogger.com increased by 78 per cent since being placed on the Google UK homepage, and is currently the 5th most visited Blog site in the UK.
