More than seven out of 10 web searches conducted in the UK are now done using the Google search engine, new figures reveal.
Google's share of the online search market was 74.8 per cent in March, according to web monitoring firm Hitwise.
MSN is Google's closest competitor, powering 7.8 per cent of all UK internet searches.
Yahoo was third with a 7.5 per cent share, followed by Ask with 5.6 per cent.
The top four search engines powered nearly 96 per cent of UK internet searches last month.
"Google continues to dominate the search market in the UK - powering three quarters of UK internet searches," said Heather Hopkins, director of research for Hitwise UK.
"While Google is the dominant player, the race for the second most popular search engine is closely contested and will be interesting to watch following the re-launch of Ask at the beginning of February and the launch of Microsoft’s Vista in 2007."
According to Hitwise, the most popular search term in March was "ebay", which accounted for 0.7 per cent of all search terms.
There were more than three times as many searches for "ebay" as the next highest volume term, "amazon", which made up 0.2 per cent of all search terms.
Among travel related search terms, easyJet was the most searched for airline in March.
Ryanair was the next most searched for airline, followed by British Airways in third.
