The traditional lazy sun holiday is no longer enough for British holidaymakers, reports online travel agency Freedom Direct.

Holidaymakers want a beach holiday combined with new experiences and culture. New favourite holiday destinations have emerged as cheap holidays in exotic countries have become more available.

Simply lying on the beach during a holiday is not enough for British holidaymakers; more and more Brits want an exotic holiday where they have the chance to see historical sights or experience a new culture. Cheap holidays in Turkey, Egypt, Morocco and other exotic locations have recently grown in popularity.

Part of the reason for the growing interest in more active holidays is that exotic holidays are no longer expensive; there are plenty of bargain holidays available in exotic destinations. Especially if you book early.

Nick Jackson, from the online travel agency Freedom Direct, says: "People want to make the most of the time they have off for a holiday. They want relaxing on the beach, good food, exotic cocktails, and also a chance to experience a new culture and see new sights.

"We offer bargain holidays in Turkey, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia. They all offer a very different cultural setting to the popular European holiday destinations - and unique history which has left them with many exotic historical sights to visit. These are also great destinations for family holidays, as there is something for everyone."

Top tips for cheap holidays in exotic locations from Freedom Direct:
Holidays in Turkey - In addition to gorgeous sandy beaches and booming nightlife, Turkey has a magnificent history; there are historical treasures from 13 civilizations from its 10,000 year history, and the oldest known human settlement can be found in Çatalhöyük.

Holidays in Morocco - The culture in Morocco is a blend of Arab, Berber, European and African. Great dynasties have left majestic religious structures and breathtaking palaces all around the country for holidaymakers to explore. The golden beaches and world-class golf courses in Morocco make it an ideal holiday destination.
