Spain's El Bulli has been voted the world's best restaurant

Spain's El Bulli has been crowned the world's best restaurant by readers of the prestigious Restaurant Magazine.

The restaurant, which has now topped the S.Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurants' poll for the last two years, is located in Roses, on the Costa Brava, approximately two hours north of Barcelona.

It is open only from April to September.

Popular dishes served at El Bulli include fried brioche Shanghai, pita of Iberian ham fat and veal bone marrow.

The Fat Duck in England came second in the survey, while France's delightful Pierre Gagnaire took third spot.

The French Laundry in the US came fourth and Tetsuya's in Australia finished in fifth place.

France's Bras, Mugaritz in Spain, Monaco's Le Louis XV, Per Se in the US and Spain's Arzak complete the top 10.

Other restaurants in the top 50 include Nobu London, Jean Georges, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, Martin Berasategui, Rockpool, Chez Dominique and Hakkasan.
