The UK is home to a number of fine seafood restaurants, 999Today looks at just a few of them.

The Poopdeck Restaurant, Brixham, Devon

Devon Life Magazine's Malcolm Twigg once described this as "the mother of all fish restaurants". The Poopdeck Restaurant is a fashionable, bright, cosy quayside restaurant overlooking the delightful Brixham harbour. The extensive menu offers some of the best fish dishes in the South West and beyond. Cod, haddock, salmon, skate, sole, shark, monkfish, brill and Pollock are featured regularly on the specials board. "Think of a fine meal, double it in size, but keep the price the same. If you have not found The Poopdeck yet, then update your address book now," added Twigg. The Poopdeck Restaurant is a must see for any fish lover.

English's of Brighton, Brighton, East Sussex

English's of Brighton is one of the oldest and most well known restaurants in the country with a rich and fascinating history. It is located at the entrance to the world famous 'Lanes' in the oldest part of Brighton. The restaurant spans what were originally 3 fisherman's cottages which date back over 400 years. Seafood has been served on this site for over 150 years. English's has been owned by the Leigh-Jones family since 1945. Oysters, crab, scampi, scallops, Dover sole, lobster and prawns feature highly on the menu. English's also provides guests with an excellent celebrity-spotting opportunity. Tony Blair, Jack Dee, Paul Merton, Ewan McGregor, Jeremy Irons and Franz Ferdinand have all recently eaten at the restaurant.

Neil's Restaurant, Sidmouth, Devon

Like the historic town of Sidmouth itself, Neil's Restaurant is inextricably bound to the sea and the culinary delights it has to offer. Established by top chef Neil Harding in June 2000, it has become one of the finest seafood restaurants in the South West. Exotic but substantial dishes such as 'Slices of Peppered Seared Tuna Loin with Egg Noodles and Marinated Vegetables' or 'Whole Sea Bass steamed with Ginger, Chilli, Lime and Green Onions' will excite those with adventurous tastes, while the likes of 'Whole Dover Sole Meuniere' or 'Pan fried Skate Wing with Capers' are sure to delight the more traditional palate. This restaurant is highly recommended.
