Waterford redevelopment plan approved

25th July 2007

A multimillion-pound project to redevelop Waterford city centre has moved a step closer.

The city council has granted planning permission for the 280m euros scheme, which includes plans for a large shopping centre.

The development, which will create more than 1,200 jobs, should be completed by the end of 2009.

It will feature 60 shops, a 153-bedroom four-star hotel and underground parking for over 600 vehicles.

Waterford, Ireland's oldest city, is located in Munster.
